Keitha Boardman receives first ever Central Iowa Society for Human Resource Management (CISHRM) Individual Diversity Award
Des Moines, Iowa — October 28, 2009 — Keitha Boardman, Human Resources Director for Employee & Family Resources (EFR) received the first Individual Diversity Award from CISHRM at their 2009 Annual Breakfast and Awards Banquet on October 13, 2009. CISHRM honored Boardman as an individual winner based upon her efforts to develop, promote and enhance the spirit of diversity in employment and the workplace. CISHRM also honored Bankers Trust in the business division based on their diversity philosophy, initiatives, and internal/external policies.
"This is the first Annual Diversity Award for the Central Iowa Society for Human Resource Management", said Jerry Tormey, CISHRM Board Member and Chair of the CISHRM Diversity Committee. "We are pleased to recognize these two excellent recipients, Keitha Boardman from Employee and Family Resources for the Individual Award and Bankers Trust for the Business Award. We had many excellent applicants. We encourage them all to continue with their mission dedicated to diversity in the workplace and reapply next year."
"It was an honor to receive this award as a confirmation of a life time of asking "how I fit in?" said Boardman. "I'm a hearing daughter of now deceased Deaf parents. Which world did I fit in? Did I fit in the Deaf world, Hearing world or both? Throughout the years as I explored that question, I found there were many people who had the same question but had different stories that lead them to ask this same question. Thus began the exploration of diversity that led me to expand to the next level - inclusivity."
In addition to Boardman's position as Director of Human Resources she also leads EFR's Diversity/Inclusivity Committee.
