Employee & Family Resources (EFR) Explores Options to Transfer FCC License for KFMG to New Organization

December 4, 2009, Des Moines, IA —Tammy Hoyman, CEO of Employee & Family Resources (EFR), announced today that EFR's Board of Directors voted to explore options for transferring the FCC license for KFMG 99.1 FM to another not-for-profit organization.

Hoyman said, "EFR's Board of Directors and staff leadership are taking steps to identify the most suitable new home for KFMG. We are optimistic that the appropriate transferee will be identified soon, followed by a timely transitioning of the license and station oversight."

In 2007, EFR was successful in its bid to obtain the low-power license for KFMG in order to establish a high quality community-based radio station. Since then, KFMG has been dedicated to entertaining and informing listeners with a format that offers progressive/adult alternative music, local arts, entertainment, literature, poetry, and quality-of-life and community outreach.

The decision to seek a transferee will allow EFR to focus and grow its mission-based programming and services — prevention/community services, substance assessment services, employee assistance program (EAP), and training and coaching.

Supporters of KFMG are encouraged to continue their support through this transition. For now, EFR plans to continue KFMG's regularly scheduled programming.

Updates will be provided to KFMG supporters, contributors, and fans as they become available.
