Des Moines, Iowa, February 17, 2009 — The Central Iowa Coalition for Restorative Justice and Employee & Family Resources (EFR) will present "Restorative Models in Schools, Practical Ways to Create Caring Climates" on Thursday, February 26, 2009, in West Des Moines. The all-day event features Lorraine Stutzman Amstutz, MSW, a nationally recognized expert in restorative justice principles and author of "The Little Book of Restorative Discipline for Schools," considered by many as a must-read for educators and other school professionals.

The workshop is designed to give educators, from classroom teachers to administrators and school board members, concrete strategies for practical and immediate implementation into their schools.

"Lorraine brings a wealth of knowledge and experience working in schools with youth and families through restorative practices," said Tammy Hoyman, COO of EFR. "She offers a fresh approach to age-old concerns of discipline and behavior problems in schools. We’re so lucky to have a nationally recognized expert of her caliber coming to our community."

The workshop will take place at the Valley Church, 4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines, Iowa 50265 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on February 26. Cost for the event is $35.00; lunch is provided.
