Have you heard the saying “when you say yes, you say yes to stress?” When you think about this time of year, it can be easy to over-commit, only to find yourself running on empty. Between your regular commitments and whatever you find yourself busy with during the holidays, this can quickly become a time of high stress levels.
So, what is one thing you can do to reduce stress this time of year? Learn to say no! Many things we commit to aren’t necessary but we get caught up in feeling obligated to do as much as possible at the expense of feeling good. Remember that the word no can be a complete sentence and you don’t have to explain yourself when you say no.
The next time you’re faced with a decision to go somewhere or participate in something that costs both time and money, think about what will be more stressful: saying yes or saying no.
