For Family…
The impacts of substance abuse on families and friends can be very serious, complicated, and destructive. The behavior and dynamics often associated with chemical dependency are confusing, frustrating, and can feel uncontrollable. If your life is affected by a loved one’s drinking or drug use, help and support is available. Even if the person you care about denies a problem or refuses to get help, you can begin to heal and move forward with your life. Call EFR's Substance Abuse Professionals to talk with one of our counselors and start the process.
Other support for Families
Al-Anon (not to be confused with Alcoholics Anonymous) is a support group for family members impacted by a loved one's drinking.
Alateen is a support group for teenage children impacted by a family member's drinking (most often a parent).
Both of these groups are peer-lead and intended to provide a source of support and understanding for those struggling with the drug or alcohol use of a loved one. Concerned friends and families need not struggle alone when there are others who can help and support during difficult times.
See the Al-Anon/Alateen website for additional information.
Alcohol and Drug Self-Assessments
Are you concerned that you may have a problem with alcohol and/or other drug use? Do family members encourage you to get help, complain about your drinking or using, or threaten to leave you if you don't stop?
If so, these confidential self-assessments may be helpful.
Once you have completed the self-assessment, please contact EFR's Substance Abuse Professionals with any questions or to schedule an appointment for a confidential assessment.
