Substance Abuse

Iowa Recovery Voices

"By our silence, we let others define us."
~ Susan Rook, recovering alcoholic and addict, advocate

Advocacy makes recovery real for those in need.

If you are in recovery, you are living proof that there are real solutions to addiction. With your help, we can create positive changes in our communities.

Your voice can help us meet these goals:

Support recovery

To be an advocate for recovery, you don't need special skills — just a willingness to speak out for change, to share your voice so others can see that recovery is reality. As a member of the recovery community or an ally of the recovery community, you have the necessary qualifications.

By coming together, we have the power to advocate on behalf of recovery and for those still struggling.

"The more recovery voices are heard, the easier it will become to confront societal issues now being ignored. The harder it will be to deny the recovering addict the tools needed to reenter the community as a contributing and enfranchized citizen."
~ Dr. H Westly Clark, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT)
