Workplace Bullying

Bullies aren't just found on school playgrounds – they can be found in the workplace too. Workplace bullying presents a serious, risky problem for many employees and their employers. Unlike bullies at school who used physical intimidation to get their way, bullies in the workplace use uncivil behavior, from angry words to sending intimidating e-mails or embarrassing coworkers on social media sites.

This training seminar is designed to increase awareness of the issues surrounding workplace bullying and the steps that individuals and employers can take to prevent it.

Course Objectives

  • Define workplace bullying and the difficulties in defining it
  • Explore recent statistics of workplace bullying incidents
  • Learn about cultural issues underlying bullying, including gender and race
  • Review the typology of bullying behaviors and common abusive workplace behaviors
  • Identify health costs and financial costs to employers
  • Present and discuss helpful tools, including mediation, that can be used to intervene in bullying situations and manage risks
